We are pleased to announce that two major parts of the future Xcat Global Marketplace have now reached their first complete development milestone.
Xcat Vendor Manager V1
The Xcat Vendor Manager provides the core systems needed for registered users to buy and sell through Xcat.
The completed V1 foundation includes:
- Seller registration and account management
- Seller dashboards and shop settings
- Product listing and management tools
- Order processing and sales records
- Separate Purchase and Sales Ledgers
- Seller balances, reserves and payout requests
- Bank and PayPal payout preferences
- Buyer purchase records and order details
- Country-aware seller and buyer financial information
- Marketplace messaging and support tools
- Seller-branded, country-aware invoices
The new Buyer Area also clearly separates purchases from marketplace selling:
- Purchase Ledger records money spent as a buyer.
- Sales Ledger records sales, fees, reserves, refunds and payouts as a seller.
Xcat Global Currency Engine V1
The Xcat Currency Engine allows Xcat to provide a more useful experience for visitors and registered users outside the United Kingdom.
The system can identify the appropriate country context and display catalogue prices, purchase records, seller information and invoices in the user’s relevant currency.
The underlying Xcat financial records remain controlled and auditable while users receive a clearer local-currency experience.
What comes next?
Our next major development project is the Xcat Shipping and Estimated Delivery Engine.
This will provide one unified system for Xcat and marketplace sellers, including:
- Seller-specific shipping zones
- Country and regional delivery availability
- Weight-based shipping rates
- Seller-defined delivery services
- Product-level free and flat-rate shipping
- Multi-seller basket calculations
- Order preparation and dispatch times
- Estimated delivery dates
- Permanent shipping information recorded against each order
The existing shipping systems will remain active while the new Xcat engine is built and thoroughly tested.
Reaching this milestone gives Xcat the essential buyer, seller, financial and international-currency foundations required for the next stage of the global marketplace.
